Like peoplesearch.com and all that. I do NOT want people being able to look me up! I want it to be like an unlisted phone number in a phone book.|||You asked, "How can I get those "address search" websites to NOT be allowed to give out my address, even if someone pays?"
Good question, and I have some background on this subject.
Such sites are basically public records aggregators (people search websites). I'm not aware of any law that restricts republishing public records. Those are private companies.
However, each of those companies has a different policy on under what circumstances they'll remove your information.
I've attached the link to the best page I've ever seen on this subject, and specific opt-out instructions are included for several vendors. You can't always get out, but sometimes you can.
Big hint: a little birdie told me that if you opt out of Intelius first, you've gone a long way towards recapturing some of your privacy from people searches. Reason? Intelius is a very popular choice among PIs. (Don't expect to be completely insulated or anything, it's just helpful.)
I hope that helps.|||do you know if there is a site like this in the uk?
